ILGA-Europe Appoints Chaber as New Executive Director

Chaber, formerly the Executive Director of the Polish LGBT organisation KPH (Campaign Against Homophobia), will assume the role on October 1. Chaber has also served as ILGA-Europe’s Finance Director for the past five years.

In their new position, Chaber aims to build upon the foundation laid by ILGA-Europe's outgoing Executive Director, Evelyne Paradis. With a strategic perspective, creativity, and a commitment to learning, Chaber intends to guide the organization through a period of change while upholding its mission. Chaber’s history of involvement within ILGA-Europe and their familiarity with its operations underscore their readiness to lead.

Speaking about their appointment, Chaber said, “I am deeply honoured to become the leader of an organisation that is so fundamental to the advancement of equality, freedom, strength and safety of LGBTI movements in Europe and Central Asia. Having been part of the ILGA-Europe team since 2018, and sat on its board for three years before that, I have a deep and nuanced understanding of our role working with and on behalf our 700-plus member organisations, and LGBTI activists across Europe and Central Asia."

Chaber's tenure as Executive Director commences during a time of significant social transformation. With an evolving landscape in terms of acceptance and rights, ILGA-Europe is expected to play a crucial role in shaping these narratives. Chaber’s leadership and ability to navigate this landscape will be closely watched as they guide the organisation forward.
