FEAD appoints Paolo Campanella as new Secretary General

FEAD is the European Waste Management Association that represents the private waste management and resource industry across Europe. Since January 2022, Campanella has been an integral part of the FEAD team, as a Technical Officer, and succeeds Valérie Plainemaison, who left the industry association at the end of last year.

The new Secretary General holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Padua. His subsequent master's degree in 2012 was in soil conservation. After graduating, Campanella worked in the environmental and waste sector for about ten years and still works as a technical advisor for the Italian province of Bari, where he is part of a panel for the evaluation and approval of waste projects.

Expressing gratitude to the FEAD Presidency, including Claudia Mensi, Herwart Wilms, and David Lamy, as well as the FEAD Board for the trust placed in him, Paolo Campanella conveyed his dedication to embracing the responsibilities and challenges that accompany this position.

In a post on LinkedIn, he extended his sincere appreciation to colleagues within FEAD, such as Baudouin Ska, Aizea Astor Hoschen, Orla Kerrigan, Linda Lebanda, Giulia Caroli, and others in the waste management sector. Their support, guidance, and collaborative efforts have played a pivotal role in his journey.

FEAD is committed to championing sustainable waste management practices and fostering a circular economy. Paolo Campanella, together with the FEAD team and its members, is enthusiastic about keeping these efforts going and advocating for policies that make Europe's future more sustainable.
