European Aluminium Opens New Office in Brussels

European Aluminium, an industry association representing the aluminium sector, celebrated the grand opening of its new office. The event witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, including MEP Anna Asimakopoulou, Bernd Schäfer, CEO and Managing Director at EIT Raw Materials, welcomed by Paul Voss, Director General at European Aluminium, who emphasised the strategic importance of aluminium in driving sustainability and innovation in Europe.

MEP Anna Asimakopoulou highlighted the crucial role of aluminium in various eco-friendly applications such as solar panels, electric batteries, heat pumps, and electric vehicles. Expressing concern over China's dominance in aluminium production and the decline of European output, Asimakopoulou stressed the significance of placing aluminium on the Strategic Materials list, considering its vital contributions to the CRM Act.

Bernd Schäfer, CEO of EIT Raw Materials, acknowledged the pivotal position of aluminium in the European public debate and emphasized the necessity for adequate representation. The new Brussels office is poised to provide a conducive environment for the dedicated team of European Aluminium to address the industry's critical issues effectively.

Paul Voss, Director General at European Aluminium, expressed gratitude for the presence of stakeholders at the opening celebration.
