EFFAT Sets Strategic Direction for the Upcoming EU Elections in 2024

Titled 'Fighting for a Better Europe for Workers,' the resolution focuses on advocating for the rights and interests of workers in the food, agriculture, tourism, and domestic work sectors. EFFAT aims to prioritize fairness, sustainability, and social rights on the EU's agenda, expecting the next EU Parliament and Commission to champion these values.

The resolution addresses key concerns, including the regulation of labor intermediaries to ensure fair working conditions across subcontracting chains. EFFAT calls for the protection of the vulnerable demographic of nearly 10 million domestic workers in Europe, highlighting the necessity for improved working conditions and fair treatment.

EFFAT's emphasis on a just transition for workers in the context of climate change remains a central theme. The organization aims to utilize the green transition to generate more employment opportunities with stable working conditions and equitable compensation within its sectors.

Additionally, EFFAT advocates for a robust and socially balanced Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and a sustainable food system that promotes global food security, affordability, and environmental sustainability.

EFFAT's affiliates have committed to integrating these initiatives into their national-level EU election campaigns, underscoring the organization's dedication to driving positive change at the regional and international levels.
