Established in 1990, the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) stands as the most expansive European consortium of national, regional, and local networks. Comprising anti-poverty NGOs, grassroot groups, and prominent European Organizations, EAPN has been an active crusader in the battle against poverty and social exclusion.
Amidst growing challenges such as the rising cost of living and enduring energy crises, the day resonates with greater urgency, spotlighting the enhanced vulnerabilities faced by marginalized groups.

Activities in North Macedonia
In anticipation of this crucial day, the Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform (MAPP) collaborated with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) and the Association for Inclusive and Sustainable Development (SIGA) to curate a panel discussion themed “Living with dignity or survival?”.
Branimir Jovanovic, an Economic Researcher affiliated with SIGA, shared insights from his study about inflation's implications for poverty. Testimonials from individuals with firsthand experience of poverty punctuated the dialogue, bringing to light the everyday struggles faced by countless individuals. The discussion further included contributions from the Vice Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, representatives from the Union of Trade Unions, and the Organisation of Employers.

EAPN Greece's Initiatives
EAPN Greece accentuated the plight of individuals enduring poverty through sharing their testimonies. Their campaign spotlighted the undue burden of the escalating cost of living on households with limited income.
EAPN Portugal's Week of Activities
In recognition of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, EAPN Portugal orchestrated a series of over 130 activities spanning the country from 16 to 24 October. Designed to raise awareness and spotlight efforts to counteract poverty and social exclusion, these endeavors seek to galvanize societal engagement and activism, focusing particularly on those facing poverty or social exclusion.
EAPN Spain’s Conference
Coinciding with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, EAPN Spain scheduled a conference to deliberate upon the multifaceted challenges of combating poverty and social exclusion. Carlos Susías, President of EAPN Spain and EAPN-Europe, will inaugurate the event. The day's itinerary includes presenting the XIII Report on “El Estado de la Pobreza” (‘The State of Poverty’), offering a comprehensive analysis of poverty metrics and their intersection with recent crises.
