Charlotte Roule Elected as President of Gas Storage Europe

Announcing her election on LinkedIn, Roule expressed her gratitude to the GSE ExCom, the GSE plenary members, and the GIE Board members for their trust and support.

Gas Storage Europe (GSE) represents the interests of 30 Storage System Operators across 20 European countries, overseeing around 102 storage sites. In total, these sites represent approximately 91 BCM or about 84% of the EU's technical storage capacity. As part of GIE, Gas Infrastructure Europe, GSE is dedicated to enhancing the regulatory and investment framework for storage activities. Their objective is to assist members in delivering secure, efficient, and valuable storage services to the energy market.

Roule shared her enthusiasm for the energy sector's challenges, emphasising the importance of storage in advancing the energy transition. She highlighted the roles of methane and hydrogen storage as solutions in energy storage, indicating their current importance in addressing the energy crisis and the future pursuit of carbon neutrality.

Charlotte Roule currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Storengy, an entity in underground natural gas storage in Europe. She assumed this role on March 1, 2023, with an emphasis on enhancing the company's expertise in renewable gas storage and natural hydrogen production. Prior to this, Roule was the ENGIE Group Strategy Officer, overseeing long-term forecasting, strategic dialogue, and major company projects. She has an extensive international portfolio, having managed Storengy UK and coordinated renewable energy and clean solution projects for ENGIE in China. From 2018 to 2021, she served as the Vice President of the European Chamber of Commerce in China and continues to represent the Chamber in Paris. Additionally, Roule has been recognised for her leadership in energy strategy, notably in her collaborative efforts with the President of ENGIE during his co-chairmanship of the B20 (G20 business group) Energy, Sustainable Development, and Climate working group in 2022.
