MEP Anna Asimakopoulou highlighted the crucial role of aluminium in various eco-friendly applications such as solar panels, electric batteries, heat pumps, and electric vehicles. Expressing concern over China’s dominance in aluminium production and the decline of European output, Asimakopoulou stressed the significance of placing aluminium on the Strategic Materials list, considering its vital contributions to the CRM Act.
Bernd Schäfer, CEO of EIT Raw Materials, acknowledged the pivotal position of aluminium in the European public debate and emphasized the necessity for adequate representation. The new Brussels office is poised to provide a conducive environment for the dedicated team of European Aluminium to address the industry’s critical issues effectively.
Paul Voss, Director General at European Aluminium, expressed gratitude for the presence of stakeholders at the opening celebration. He praised their contributions in driving sustainability and innovation forward and reiterated the commitment of European Aluminium to pave the way towards a greener future powered by aluminium.
As part of the festivities, European Aluminium introduced the “Alu Elixir,” a specially crafted drink inspired by the essence of innovation. The tantalizing blend includes Gin P2P infused with blueberry, raspberry, and strawberry, accompanied by homemade Violet Syrup and fresh Lime Juice, all topped off with sparkling water for a refreshing experience. The Alu Elixir’s exquisite presentation, adorned with a delicate Fleur de bleuet and dehydrated lime garnish, makes it a true showstopper and a must-try for guests.
The new office also boasts an Instagram-worthy attraction – the #PixelCan wall, constructed from nearly 2000 aluminium cans, painted and assembled meticulously by the European Aluminium team. This eye-catching backdrop adds a touch of style to the office and provides an ideal spot for visitors to capture memorable moments and share them on social media platforms.
The grand opening celebration underscored the commitment of European Aluminium to champion sustainability, innovation, and collaboration in the aluminium sector. As the industry braces itself to play a pivotal role in the green transition, the new Brussels office will serve as a hub for driving positive change and promoting a sustainable Europe powered by the potential of aluminium.
